MOVING OUR PARTNERSHIP FORWARD IN 2010-2011

It is worth reminding ourselves of the roles Governors play in supporting our schools.  As we operate across 5 schools we have a different structure of Governance to reflect the demands of an organisation of over 3,000 pupils and an annual budget of £13 million pounds.

The three key aims of Governance proposed in "Governing the school of the future" DES 2006 are tackled by the Governing Body and the 3 different groups that form our subcommittee structure.

Our schools are continuing to improve and our results from the previous year are encouraging.  However we still have much to achieve and following discussions with the chairperson of each group we have decided to highlight two particular areas for the coming year. We would  like to focus on ensuring that our schools :

  • Improve and promote opportunities for high achievers
  • Embed the Virtual Learning Environment within our operations.

Although funding is now very scarce we are still pursuing the replacement of our oldest school, Wansbeck First.  We are putting forward proposals to convert the old Fire Station adjacent to Bothal Middle School into a suitable replacent that will provide a first class learning environment.
